Let's Linux #026: uniform look GTK and QT
The files used in this video can be found on github: https://github.com/budRich/letslinux/tree/master/022-027-mondo-setup This is the fifth video in a series on how to setup and use my theme manager, **mondo**. I use `qt5ct` to manage some of the appearances of QT. https://sourceforge.net/projects/qt5ct/ And export the following environment variables *(i export them from `.xinitrc`, but you can export them in other files as well..)*: ``` shell export QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME=qt5ct export GTK2_RC_FILES="$HOME/.gtkrc-2.0" ``` You should also make sure that these lines exist in `~/.config/Trolltech.conf` : ``` [Qt] style=GTK+ ``` Some Qt applications gets updated on the fly, `qbittorrent` for instance. Others needs a restart (`calibre`), and some needs more advanced custom generators (`kdenlive`, `krita`). --- * * * **mondos** settings are stored in a directory called MONDO_DIR in the documentation (`mondo -h`). By default this directory is: `~/.config/mondo` but it can be changed with the environment variable. MONDO_DIR will get created if it doesn't exist when you execute `mondo -n THEME` *(create a new theme)* the first time. Videos about mondo: https://youtu.be/x3zwquxikEI - antidote https://youtu.be/qlMI69opASo - setup https://youtu.be/bLIWyDRYuSA - generators https://youtu.be/YEqAcvFxwA0 - gtk https://youtu.be/fjo1wfSy97M - generate gtk https://youtu.be/TB2zm4r8Xag - Qt and GTK https://youtu.be/YsIDiZOyEgE - advanced generators --- You can see how i set up URxvt to auto-reload the config in a previous lets linux video: https://youtu.be/37jo_x6bXBk --- ## resources You can find **mondo** on github: https://github.com/budRich/mondo You can see my personal mondo settings in my *dots* repo on github: https://github.com/budRich/dots/tree/master/mondo The color-themes used in this video is "gruvbox" and themes from the *unixporn colorcontest*. https://github.com/morhetz/gruvbox https://github.com/unixporn/colorcontest https://www.reddit.com/r/unixporn/comments/6feh1l/colorcontest_july_is_color_scheme_month/ Klavaro is available in most linux package managers. http://klavaro.sourceforge.net/en/index.html The GTK theme I have used as a base for all my themes is a variation of Numix: https://github.com/Ferdi265/numix-solarized-gtk-theme lolban is the output of figlet piped through lolcat. I have a video where i show how it works. That video is called: Let's Linux #009: Automatic script creation, and can be found here: https://youtu.be/QGUmMtEnIkI The figlet font used with lolban is created by xero. It is called: 3d.flf And can be found on github: https://github.com/xero/figlet-fonts You can also see more details about i3ass, my other projects, dotfiles and blog at my homepage: https://budrich.github.io The terminal font is a modified version of Fixedsys, read more about it on my blog: https://budrich.github.io/blog/fixed_fixedsys/

David King: Building GTK+ applications for Windows with MinGW
https://media.ccc.de/v/51-building_gtk_applications_for_windows_with_mingw While there have been great strides in building the GTK+ stack on Windows, cross-building for Windows from Linux is still the easiest way for most developers to build their applications. I will demonstrate, using the Fedora MinGW project, how to build a GTK+ application, including a simple installer to bundle all the dependencies into a single distributable file. David King

You just install GNOME SDK runtime with Flatpak in any Linux in any desktop, and then you install GNOME Builder, and then you create your app, and then you upload it to Flatpak Store (that doesn't exist ..yet!) and then everyone can get it and update it, without needing any dependencies than the GNOME Flatpak runtime!
